Client Need: LaJuan

LaJuan is a thirty-nine years old, single father who lives with his two daughters in, Lawrenceville Georgia. LaJuan contacted H.O.P.E. Inc. for financial assistance to better provide for his daughters as he sought to pursue his college studies.

Background

LaJuan is a divorced single father raising his two girls in a new city. After relocating and losing his job, life got pretty rough. He was blessed with the opportunity to find employment through a temp service agency, and was hired on permanently, but his financial worries were far from over.

Client Situation

LaJuan contacted H.O.P.E. Inc. with hopes that we would help him supplement his income so that he could catch up on his rent. He was attending Buelah Heights University Full-Time to obtain his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Religious Studies, and working Part-Time at a temp agency making $12 an hour. For over two years, LaJuan suffered financially as a single parent due to garnishments for child support of a child he was raising in his home, and struggled to gain custody of his youngest daughter. Year after year, he has tried to seek legal help and charity, but he didn’t receive the help he was looking for.

Action

With H.O.P.E. Inc.’s assistance to help with rent, LaJuan was able to maintain housing for his daughters and he was able to gain custody of his youngest daughter, stopping garnishments all together. In addition, he gained stable employment with the company he was employed with as a temporary employee and later was hired with Coca-Cola full-time with a 57% pay increase from $12 to $20.88. He also moved into a beautiful three bedroom two bath home where he daughters could have their own room, and he became a graduate of our program when he married his beautiful wife in September 2015. LaJuan is definitely excited about his future and He is looking forward to graduating in spring of 2017.

He plans to be a living testimony for H.O.P.E, Inc. and plans to give back to our wonderful program.

Testimonial

“ONE THING I AM SO THANKFUL FOR AND LOVE ABOUT H.O.P.E. INC. IS THAT THEY DON'T DISCRIMINATE. I AM A SINGLE FATHER, AND I AM WORKING ON MY BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN RELIGIOUS STUDIES. I HAVE HAD DOORS SLAMMED IN MY FACE AND DENIED HELP JUST BECAUSE I AM A MAN. I HAVE GOTTEN STRUNG ALONG IN THE FAMILY COURT SYSTEM, CHILD SUPPORT SYSTEM, AND FINANCIAL HELP SYSTEM. I AM FACED WITH THE ATTITUDE OF, "YOU'RE A MAN" SO YOU DON'T NEED OUR HELP; BUT NOT WITH H.O.P.E. INC.! I WAS EMBRACED WITH LOVE AND THEY WELCOMED ME WITH OPEN ARMS. I DIDN'T FEEL LIKE LESS OF A MAN BECAUSE OF MY CURRENT SITUATION WHICH IS, BECAUSE OF H.O.P.E, INC., TURNING AROUND. I WAS LOSING FAITH WHEN I FOUND HOPE! ”
