As a user of this website (the “Site”), we will take appropriate measures to protect your PII provided by and collected from you on the Site. What Information Is Collected?

We collect PII from individual visitors, volunteers, donors, and scholarship/aid applicants or recipients, when you provide it voluntarily. PII can include data such as names, addresses, ZIP codes, birthdays, e-mail addresses, or any information that is part of a scholarship/aid application or receipt of services/assistance under a scholarship/aid award.

PII may also include information that is automatically collected like web browser data (such as IP address, date and time of visit, and pages viewed) and web browser cookie (small files stored on your computer used to recognize you and your preferences). We use this information for analytics and Site functionality purposes, including to improve your user experience. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies and can be configured to prevent this, but you may not be able to access some parts of our site or have a diminished user experience without cookies.

What Information Is Collected?

We use PII in support of our organization’s mission. Uses include contacting you about programs and activities, requesting and facilitating donations, processing scholarship/aid applications, distribution of services/assistance under scholarship/aid awards, and for site analytics and functionality purposes as described above.

Managing a non-profit organization also requires us to share your PII with certain third parties. We may share PII with third parties when (i) the person submitting the PII authorizes us to share it; (ii) a third party performs a function for us directly related to the operation of the Site or our organization, such as contacting our supporters, processing payments, or verifying eligibility for our services and scholarships/aid awards; or (iii) we are required to by law or court order to do so.

We maintain reasonable security measures to protect your PII from unauthorized use. While no protections are completely secure, we strive to apply best practices to protect your PII from unauthorized physical and digital access.

We sometimes provide links to third party websites, such as payment providers or unaffiliated organizations, on our Site. You understand and agree that your use of such third-party sites will be governed by the applicable privacy policies of those sites and not by this Privacy Notice. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party websites.

How To Stop Receiving Information From Us?

You can choose to stop receiving information from us about content or services: You can email kpiercelewis@hopbe.org with “UNSUBSCRIBE” in the subject line to be removed from our mailing list. If you are a scholarship/aid recipient, we will continue to provide communications to you as needed.
