Karla

Client Need: Karla
Karla is a thirty-nine years old, widow of five children who live in, Lawrenceville Georgia. Karla contacted H.O.P.E. Inc. as a referral from our Rainbow Village partner.
Background
As a young widow, Karla had lost her home and could barely make ends meet. As a graduate of Rainbow Village’s transitional housing program, she knew that a higher education would help her avoid becoming homeless again.
Client Situation
Karla contacted H.O.P.E. Inc. when she realized that she was going to need assistance with childcare after she left Rainbow Village. She was working as a private care giver making $800 a month, and was looking for a full-time position that would be willing to work around her school schedule. Although she was a certified phlebotomist and Nursing Assistant, she still had problems finding employment. She was working to obtain her Associates’ degree in Business and Science with a dull degree in Medical Assistant from Gwinnett College.
Action
H.O.P.E. Inc. provided Karla with rent and childcare assistance to help her stay in school. As a result, Karla graduated in December of 2017, and rose above all of the obstacles she faced. She obtained a full-time position at a private medical doctor’s office she interned with while in school, and just recently was hired on at a behavioral health facility for a higher salary.
