Amanda Cheshire
Client Need: Amanda Cheshire
Amanda is a thirty-eight-year-old, single mother of two in Atlanta, Georgia. Amanda contacted H.O.P.E. Inc. for rent assistance after leaving a emotionally-abusive relationship.
Background
Amanda is a single mother of two children.
Client Situation
Amanda had just relocated to Atlanta from Rhode Island with her husband before she found herself taking care of her household alone. Her husband was addicted to narcotics and became very verbally abusive. Even with working 50+ hours a week, she still found it hard to make ends meet. She was three months behind in her rent and living paycheck-to-paycheck. One month she even went without power. She decided she needed to go back to school to make more money to take care of her children.
Action
H.O.P.E. Inc. agreed to assist Amanda with $250 a month in rent assistance. With financial support, Amanda was able to catch up with her rent and remain current thereafter. She also appreciated the other services offered to her children, such as school supplies and tutors. The assistance took so much stress off of her and allowed her to spend more time with her children. She was also able to balance her budget better with the training offered. She graduated with her degree in Associates in Accounting in February of 2019, and went on to obtain her Bachelors degree.
